The Pohly Company Case Study
The IT Consulting Challenge: Transitioning to a New Corporate Identity Seamlessly
Boston-based The Pohly Company is a 65-person marketing and publishing services company that is recognized as one of the leading customer communications companies in the country. Due to a change in corporate structure, Pohly & Partners was closing its books and changing its name to The Pohly Company to re-emerge as a new entity in corporate appearance. This change to an updated brand included updating its digital corporate identity on all of its internal and external facing IT systems.
Bill Beardslee, Pohly’s Chief Marketing Officer, was anxious to quickly and consistently present the new, professional brand identity to current, prospective and internal clients. The IT aspect of the project had to be well planned and flawlessly implemented to avoid potentially embarrassing and costly errors. Bill worked with Roan Solutions (RSI), a leading Boston IT outsourcing and IT consulting firm, to coordinate and execute a transition plan that would achieve his marketing communication goals.
The Solution: Teamwork and Collaboration
RSI was charged with reconfiguring all client facing systems to make the switch as seamless and transparent as possible. RSI deployed a team to meet with, and coordinate the needs of the Operations and Marketing departments as well as several external partners to fully understand the business objectives and design a plan for a smooth transition. RSI mapped out a plan to manage the changes to all mail servers, all users’ accounts, web, FTP, DNS servers and Project and SharePoint environments in this dual PC and Mac environment.
The Result: A Seamless Transition Forges Client Relationships
With RSI’s collaborative, client-focused approach to project management and keen understanding of the technical and business requirement, the transition was completed on time and within budget. The transition was so well planned and implemented that when the switch was flipped overnight, customers, partners and staff were able to simultaneously access the freshly branded website, Sharepoint and email services, as well as internal and external systems when they came into work the next morning. RSI continues as their outsourced IT partner today.
“(Working with RSI), ensured we appeared “professional grade” to those inside and outside of our organization. It appears as though the move from our old domain to the new domain went without a hiccup. This is in large measure due to (RSI’s) planning and follow-through. Thank you for your dedication to service, and specifically, for your diligence to making our changeover a success.”
