Knowing when to move your company’s IT support and services to a professional team is hard to judge. Keeping a solid technology foundation is important for expansion, therefore acquiring an IT support team is the best idea. From a Boston IT consultant Craig Raubenheimer, here are some tips on how to get your small business IT to the next level.

“The reality is that you have more in the perception of a stage of the business.  A small business has some of the very similar (maybe not the same) challenges that a larger corporation has.  There are a number of different ways to look at it, but at the end of the day even if you’re a three man operation you need some sort of help.  I think a lot of people boot strap their IT in the early stages and that mentality sometimes carries through until a company starts to grow larger.  What we’ve seen that there’s sort of a point at about 10 employees or so where that becomes a more of a challenge. When the business starts to grow beyond 10 people and there’s a decision from decision makers to say we no longer want to be plagued with any kind of IT issues or we need to understand strategically where we’re going with our IT.  So we see it varying quite a bit but there’s usually a point around 10 employee businesses that they understand that they need to spend a small amount of money, insurance so to speak, so that their IT is handled and they can focus on their core business.”

If you are a small business owner, do you agree with this? Is it worth taking on the stress of IT services and support, cloud integration and disaster recovery while running your company?
