Small businesses usually feel as if their problems are unique but according to Boston IT cloud computing expert Craig Raubenheimer, many issues are the same. Below is a piece of advice for small business owners looking to increase their IT capabilities and avoid issues dealing with disaster recovery and tech support issues.
“What we’re finding recently is we are doing a lot of work with clients that are looking to find an alternative to having to go through the next wave of server upgrades. We’re doing a lot of work in the cloud and giving our clients options to move their infrastructure into the cloud and to save on that next capital expenditure because their servers are five or six or seven years old, depending on where they are in that stage. Even four years old, depending on the company. We find a lot of that. Also, in terms of increasing productivity it’s making sure that the work stations and servers are being patched and maintained and updated. That’s usually a very big one, and we find a lot of neglect on the part of clients that we bring on board in that respect. Usually they are way out of date and at a big risk of getting effected by not having the right patches and software to prevent intrusions. The other key area that we see is disaster recovery and people looking for better options to having their infrastructure protected. Tape backups that are human interfaced are usually creating a lot more problems than they are actually allowing the person to backup and go and let it run. There are other solutions out there that help and that we find that we’re doing a lot of disaster recovery implementation.”
