Green is the new black. Not like pink was supposed to be the new black (seriously how silly does that sound?). But Green is one way businesses small and large are drawing in new customers, providing existing clients yet another reason to purchase from them, and helping keep their own company in the black.

Going Green is almost unheard of anymore. Companies aren’t “going green” any longer; they are green. Reducing your carbon footprint in measurable ways and making that information available is an exciting Marketing wave. There are potential clients out there who when faced with two companies to do business with, if all other variables are equal, will choose the Green company. Sometimes they are even willing to pay more to make the Green choice.

Now if Green is only a Marketing tactic and you only give it lip service, be sure you will be found out. Believe you are a steward of the environment and live it in your company. Some ways to make this real for your business:

?Call your local recycling center and find out what recyclables they take and when they are open.
?Plastic bags may be recycled by returning them to any Wal-Mart or Brookshire’s .
?Compact Fluorescent Bulbs can be recycled at any Home Depot.
?Use environmentally friendly products.
?Use recycled products whenever possible.
?Cut down on paper product expenditures.
?Find ways to conserve water.
?If not in use- turn it off.

?Move to a network that uses one physical server with multiple servers virtualized on it. This means a reduction in power and cooling, less energy used and lower electric bills!
?Recycle office equipment when you replace it, when possible.
?Ask your IT company about possible trade-In programs for used equipment.
?Use live plants in your offices (helps scrub the air throughout the building too).
?Provide recycle bins for employees’ bottle and can refuse.
