Listen up Boston IT Consultants and Technology Officers: there may be an issue with Windows 8 pcs that will be available for shipping soon. As reported on September 22, 2011 in CIO, it may not be possible to load the Linux operating system on the new Windows PCs.

Turns out that the Windows machines may be using a different type of booting system, other than BIOS.

There is also some concern that kernels may have to be signed as well. Again, it is still early, and no official word has come down from Microsoft. But it is a situation that bears watching, especially if you have purchased Windows PCs in the past and then later downloaded and installed Linux.
